Adjacent to Herbert Bayer’s 311 North Street and 240 Lake Avenue residences is the truly elegant vacation home, 301 Lake Avenue, designed in 1972 by Texas modernist Victor Lundy for himself and his artist wife Anstis. A studio as well as a vacation home, the roof is cantilevered to extend over the floor-to-ceiling wall of windows that frames the 20’ high great room. The proximity of Bayer’s and Lundy’s modernist masterpieces makes the West End corner of Lake and North an important convergence of early and late Bauhaus design.
