The Kaleidoscreen, designed by Herbert Bayer, was built in 1957 and placed next to the original pool at the Aspen Meadows Reception Center. The piece was in part an experiment developed with ALCOA. The prefabricated multi-colored and textured panels are adjustable with a crank system and were meant to allow sunbathers to shade and protect themselves from wind.
